2023 Toyota Crown Oil Change

Parts & Tools Needed

  • Engine Oil: Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-8 (approx. 4.4–4.8 quarts)
  • Oil Filter: Mobil 1 Extended Performance M1-103A
  • Tools: 10mm socket, 14mm wrench/socket, oil filter wrench, drain pan, and jack stands (never rely solely on the hydraulic jack while under the car!).
  • Optional: STP SA90213 engine air filter.

Oil Change Procedure

Step 1: Secure Supervisor Approval Ensure your fluffy orange shop foreman has successfully completed their engine bay inspection, checked the coolant reservoir levels, and taken up a comfortable position to supervise the entire operation.

Step 2: Remove the Access Cover Locate the small plastic access panel on the bottom passenger side of the underbody shield. Remove the four 10mm screws holding it in place to expose the oil pan and filter.

Step 3: Drain the Old Oil Position your drain pan under the oil pan. Remove the 14mm drain plug and let the old oil drain completely. Once fully drained, reinstall the plug (ideally with a new crush washer) and tighten it down.

Step 4: Replace the Oil Filter Move the drain pan under the blue STP oil filter located on the side of the oil pan. Unscrew and remove the old filter. Take your new Mobil 1 M1-103A filter, lubricate its rubber O-ring with a smear of fresh 0W-8 oil, and spin it on until hand-tight.

Step 5: Fill and Check Lower the vehicle safely back to level ground. Pour fresh Mobil 1 0W-8 oil into the oil fill neck under the hood (start with about 4.4 quarts). Run the engine for a minute to let the fluid circulate, shut it off, let it settle, and check the dipstick to ensure the level is right on the mark.

Optional: Replace engine air filter (front driver side), fill windshield washer fluid, inspect for any loose, missing, foreign, or “not quite right” objects in engine bay.
